| Security cameras | To be able to see individuals approaching the home or movement within the home. All 6 exterior cameras are connected via Power-Over- Ethernet and require a ladder to reach them in case someone want to cut the Ethernet cable, and have internal SD micro memory cards for storage. Interior cameras are connected via Wi-Fi for storage. | |
| Exterior lighting | Exterior lights are controlled via smart switches and are on overnight. | |
| Security lights | To turn on when someone is approaching the rear of the home at night. | |
| Smart doorbell | To visually see who is at the door and to communicate with them remotely via voice. These also allow the video images to be stored. | |
| Smart alarm system | The smart alarm system consists of: Motion sensors and cameras in various locations inside the home Broken glass sensors to tell if a window has been broken Door switches for all exterior doors 24/7 monitoring service Exterior siren in an emergency situation |
|
| Smart garage door | Whenever the overhead garage door is opened or shut, a notification is sent to our smart phones. Also, when the overhead garage door has been closed, a steel bolt slides out to lock the door. This is done to prevent the door from being jacked up. | |
| Smart deadbolts | We get notifications from the smart deadbolts whenever they are operated. | |
| Ethernet computer connections | Many key smart devices, especially all computers, are connected to the internet using ethernet lines. Not only are these more secure, but ethernet is much faster than Wi-Fi. | |
| Buried connection line to the locked junction box at front sidewalk | To prevent someone from cutting our internet communication coaxial cable or fiber optic line, they are buried and directed into the internet connection box near the front side walk that is locked by the provider company | |
| All apps have 2 step or facial authentication | For better security of the various apps that control the smart technology devices, each require either 2 step or facial authentication before any modification is made | |
| Emergency lighting | In an emergency, all lights in and outside the Idea Home can be turned on via a voice command | |
| No shrubs around the home | This makes it difficult for someone to hide. | |
| All operable windows are casement | Casement windows that are closed but not locked are difficult to open, unlike single- or double-hung or sliders | |
| Ladders stored in garage | This makes it difficult for someone to get to elevated areas of the home to break in there |
