Flooring

Luxury vinyl planking comes in many colors and styles, is very durable, can be slip-resistant, and when selected for adhesively mounting, can better withstand the small but heavy loads of a wheelchair going over the seams as well as the continued weight of floor cabinets.
Used on stairs to soften a fall and to increase traction on steps, and also used in the basement to provide a better sense of warmth.
The floor tiles in the two curbless showers were selected to have a higher dynamic coefficient of friction to help prevent slips in these areas
Better stain resistance and has better traction for walking on it than standard flat concrete
Feature What It Does Partner Link
Luxury Vinyl Planking Planks have a dynamic coefficient of friction (DCOF) ≥ 0.6, comparable with ADA requirements, which helps prevent slips and falls Evoke
Adhesively mounted luxury vinyl planking A better way to install luxury vinyl planking to prevent damage by wheelchairs over the lapped-in edges or from the long-term weight of cabinets Evoke
Flooring wall to wall Allows easy changes in the future for different cabinets and appliances Evoke
No thresholds under doors Makes it easy for wheelchairs to go into rooms Evoke
Scratch and water resistant flooring Prevents damage from dogs and other items that are prone to scratching the floor, and inherently water resistant. Evoke
Tile shower flooring Floor tiles in the curbless showers also have a relatively high DCOF to help prevent slips and falls.
Heated primary bath shower floor To make the floor and bench have a luxury feel, but also to minimize unusual sensations when walking or sitting on cool surfaces, especially for someone who may have peripheral neuropathy SunTouch
Carpeted stair runners & basement More slip resistance on stairs and more appropriate for fast dogs (like whippets), and makes the basement floor feel warmer. Also used 1/2 inches (13 mm) thick moisture barrier pad to give the flooring a softer feel.
Painted Garage Floor The garage floor is covered with epoxy paint to help keep it from getting stained and is better for traction. Garage floors typically have a dynamic coefficient of friction between 0.49 and 0.59, where painted floors are between 0.5 and 1.0.
