The Living In Place Institute Idea Home is incorporating many different Swidget devices to create recipes for smart operation of the home. For example, we are using motion sensing modules to sense when someone gets up to use the bathroom at night. When this happens, there will be Tresco Lighting LEDs under the bed that will turn on (to help prevent one from stubbing their toes on the foot board) and the bathroom lights will turn on, but at only 20% of full intensity. When they get back into bed, the lights will then automatically turn off.
The Idea Home is also using the Swidget modules to monitor for unusual operation of specific devices, like if the sump pump runs too long. In this case, it is probably indicating that the pump’s impeller may have broken. Quick action is needed to replace the pump as water can accumulate and flow over the top of the sump pump well, damaging flooring or other items.
Swidget devices are also extensively being used with our Panasonic air handling equipment to bring fresh air in if particulates in the home get above an unhealthy level, or to turn on bathroom vent fans when the humidity level gets too high, which can lead to mold and mildew in the home.
Overall, the Living In Place Institute Idea Home benefits by having Swidget smart solutions throughout the home.
